Cover crops: Country-Wide Conclusions

Several coordinated field trials are being conducted across the US to examine the benefit of cover crops for weed management. No cover crop was compared to cereal rye terminated at tillering (6 weeks before planting soybeans), at boot stage (4 weeks prior to planting), or at anthesis stage (two weeks before planting). Late terminated cereal rye has been more consistent in suppressing weeds compared to early termination timings. Some of its authors and farmers give evidence of their achievements in this video
